Introduction to Golf Meditation. The basic premise of Golf Meditation is that golf and meditation are natural soul-mates, each complementing the other. Golf is an near ideal form of meditation, for experienced meditators and novices alike. It can deepen the practice of other types of meditation, and assist spiritual seekers on their journey of awareness and self-realization. Conversely, meditation can improve a golfer's concentration and joy, helping them into the zone of optimum performance.
 


 

The act of swinging and striking a golf ball is perfect for the practice of body-mind unity. So too, is the play of golf, if carried out in a contemplative manner, rather than as an ego contest. Golf can create a doorway to the "zone", the flow, Tao, Godhead, Nirvana, or whatever you want to call it. Golf as a meditative technique is unique in that it allows for either instant verification, or not, via the results of the swing, the play. There is little room for delusion, and little need for the Zen Master to walk along with a stick and strike people who fall asleep. The "game" itself will do that for you in the next bad shot. That is both its agony and ecstasy, its purity and beauty.
 

Golf Meditation will explore how Golf can be enhanced and improved by the knowledge, skills and techniques of meditative practices from many cultures of the world, both East and West. The featured technique will be meditation music based on PrimaSounds. Golfers can use this information to transform their game, by deepening, or adding, a meditative spiritual component. Playing golf as a meditation will help in relaxation, concentration and present awareness - being in the moment. These attribuites can greatly increase enjoyment of the game, and improve performance. On the other hand, the meditator who does not golf can use the information to take up the game for the first time. Combined with instruction on technique from a qualified professional, a meditator can enhance their existing meditation practices with a round of golf, or practice range drills. This will add a physical, dynamic and outdoor component to their spiritual life.
 

The synthesis of these two fields of knowledge - Golf and Meditation - creates a new kind of spiritual quest through golf. Both meditator and golfer can use golf as a tool for self knowledge, a "game" with a purpose that they add to it, a meditation form that is both fun and challenging.
